With Robert De Niro and Al Pacino in the same movie, you expect somethng more. In this movie you get something more but I am not sure they should get the credit. They play aging detectives who end up investigating a serial killer who may be a cop. The acting by these two giants is excellent and a real pleasure to watch but the star of this show is the story. The investigation proceeds at a fast pace and the climax brings it all together but the misdirection so easily delivered by the story line shines a completely different light on the entire movie at the very end. The movie leaves the audience satisfied not only by the acting but also by the excellence of the story line and the presentation of the message.
