Blink Movie Review
Roughly twenty years after she lost her sight at the hands of her abusive mother, Emma Brody of Chicago (Madeleine Stowe) is finally able to see, thanks to an organ donor and modern medicine. However, she's having a difficult time adjusting to life as a woman with sight; her vision is blurry and she sees things which aren't there. She's also very sensitive to light.
One night Brody hears a noise coming from her neighbor's apartment. She opens her door to investigate and finds a man standing in the hallway. Brody is unable to see the man clearly and at first believes that it was the buildings janitor. However, Brody suspects foul play when her neighbor hasn't been seen leaving her apartment for days.
Brody goes to the police station and speaks with Dectective John Hallstrom (Aidan Quinn). She explains her medical situation to him and tells him that she suspects a murder took place in her apartment building. Hallstrom is skeptical. He believes that her eyes played tricks on her and sends her on her way.
Hallstrom's skepticism vanishes when Brody's suspicions become a reality. After similar murders occur in neighboring states, the Chicago PD discover that a serial killer is on the loose. With Brody as the only eye witness, Hallstrom must act quickly before the killer gets to Brody.
Overall, Blink was very fine suspense thriller, and Stowe's performance was excellent. However, some of the scenes were a bit slow and unnecessary, and some of the dialogue was bit too much. However, the story itself was very good and concluded with a nice twist. 3 1/2 stars.
