Up In The Air Movie Review
George Clooney makes this social commentary on the heartless behavior of corporate American into an entertaining movie.
Mostly shot in St. Louis this is a movie of a man who argues that people are like sharks and can only live as long as they can keep moving. This is how he lives his life. Impersonal but not uncaring.
Ryan Bingham has the job no one wants and he loves it. It is his job to fly from city to city and stay just long enough to fire the ones on the list and then move onto the next city and the next list. He loves the job because he loves the movement. When a young hot shot management candidate comes up with the idea of remote firings over the internet Ryan and his life style are threatened. He agrees to take her on the road with him to practice firing people and get a feel for reality. Reality, it turns out, does not always feel so good.
I recommend the movie for the good entertainment. The social commentary is so obvious an indictment of corporate America that we all have stopped thinking about it.
