Bullitt Movie Review
Dectective Frank Bullitt (Steve McQueen) of the SFPD is assigned to protect an important witness for a trial. However, the witness is murdered and Bullitt stops at nothing to catch the killers. Bullitt prowls the streets of San Francisco in his iconic Mustang trying to catch the killers' scent.
I'm really trying to do justice to this movie because it's my favorite McQueen flick, but unfortunately I find that the story line is hard to follow; the actors in the movie featurette felt the same way, so at least I'm in good company.
Here's what I like about the movie:
- Steve McQueen! The man oozed cool in most everything he did.
- Bullitt's iconic green Mustang, and the car chase.
- The gritty, authentic feel of the movie. Bullitt was shot on location in various parts of San Francisco.
- The dialogue and police procedures.
With a modern day plot and the right actor (Benicio Del Toro?), Bullitt would make a great remake.
If you're looking for another gritty SFPD drama with a plot, check out 'Dirty Harry' with the great Clint Eastwood.

This movie sets the standard for cool detective movies. This is classic Steve McQueen at his best.
