Shawshank Redemption Movie Review
This is a rare instance in which the movie is much better than the original book, in this case a short story by Stephen King. Part of the reason for this is the wonderful work by Morgan Freeman in providing a voice over that sets the tone of the story and creates a special feel for the movie that is missing in the book. The acting by Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins is good and creates a rooting interest for both their characters. The outcome is satisfying and creates an entertaining and memorable movie experience.

I agree it was better than the book. This was one of my all time favorite movies. (I would go so far as to give it 5 stars!)

I read the book and saw the movie- even though I enjoyed both, I prefer the movie. Morgan Freeman is the one who makes the movie work with his wonderful voice over. This is another movie that deserved Best Picture Award
