The movie Julie Julia- the Nora Ephron movie based on two true stories- that of Julia Child the American expert on French cooking  and Amy Adams, a modern American who loves to cook and follows recipes from Julia Child's book every day is enjoyable but a little disappointing.

The story starts out in Paris where Julia Child moves to Paris with her husband Paul, and tells the story of her love of cooking, attending the Cordon Bleu Cooking School and her desire to write a cookbook for Americans.  The story switches forward to Amy in New York, a talented cook and lover of Julia  who decides to make  Julia Child recipes every day  for a year and write a blog about them.    The movie tells of her trials and triumphs during the year, her desire to write a cookbook and meet Julia Child- her mentor and hero.

The movie would switch from one character to the other and told their stories in a humorous, enjoyable way.

Though entertaining, I did find the movie a little too much- I found all the switching a little confusing.  Though her acting was nothing short of superb, I thought Meryl(Julla) was too crazy or nutty- her voice was irritating and she acted  like she was a nervous wreck.  Amy Adams as Julia Powell was a little hard to take too.  Her melt downs over a difficult or spoiled dinner was overkill. AND after all her successes and love for Julie- I kept waiting for the two to meet but it didn't happen

I appreciate what both women did but wouldn't have wanted to live with either one of them- they would have driven me nuts- their husbands were saints

I don't plan on seeing this movie again
