Hollywoodland starring Ben Affleck and Diane Lane is and interesting and somewhat educational movie on the investigation on the death of superman(George Reeves)

George Reeves starred superman on the television show and was the idol for many youngsters.  In the 1950's, superman was found dead from a bullet wound, his death was ruled a suicide and the case was closed.

In the movie Hollywoodland, an investigator, played by Adrien Brody, begins his own investigation into "superman's" death.  George Reeves was an ambitious actor who was not happy playing the role- he had dreams of better things.  He had an affair with the director's wife(wonderfully played by Diane Lane), drank, smoked and moved to New York to make a bigger name for himself where he met a new love.

According to the movie, when George is found dead, it's ruled a suicide but the investigator Adrien wants the viewer to look at other possibilities and brings those to life through the use of flashbacks:  It could be his former lover(Diane Lane) who is upset that George has found a new love,  it could be his new lover who is upset that George doesn't want to marry her, it could be his producer because he was upset over the affair with his wife and wants her to be unhappy or, it could be that George was tired of being something he was not- superman.

The movie was interesting and provides many possible theories.  It was a little long and through flashbacks a little hard to follow.  Unfortunately, the case is still open because there was no definite answer
