New In Town Movie Review
Rene Zellweger is Lucy Hill, a Miami businesswoman who volunteers to travel to a plant in Minnesota to manage the down sizing of the plant. She meets Ted Mitchell, Harry Connick Jr., who is the regional union representative. There is built in comedy in contrasting beautiful, warm, Miami with the frigid weather and frosty reception management gets in Minnesota.
Local characters such as Siobhan Fallon as Blanche Gunderson add to the comedy and the heart warming charm of the people and the community as Lucy and the audience gets acquainted with the local people, customs, and weather.
In watching the trailer, I thought it was going to be a movie with slapstick style comedy at the fore front. It was not. I found the comedic situations very funny because they were credible. When the audience can " see how that can happen", the movie action is much funnier.
The movie is also heart warming as Lucy becomes attached to the community and a romance begins to bud between Lucy and Ted. While undoubtedly the plot lines are contrived and predictable, good acting and good comedic delivery make this a fun movie to watch.
i laughed out loud at a few parts and found the movie as a whole very entertaining. I recommend it as a light movie to watch for pleasant entertainment.
