Tom Hanks reprises his role as Professor Langdon in this fast action mystery thriller involving a plot to bomb the Vatican or redirect the path of the Catholic Church. The plot revolves around Langdon's ability to quickly unravel clues involving religious symbols and follow the path of the conspiracy to bomb the Vatican in retaliation for centuries old attacks on intellectualism. The access to the Vatican Archives granted Langdon defies the presumed security of the Catholic treasures. If you can accept this as a fast paced mystery thriller that happens to be set at the Vatican it is an enjoyable movie. It is well acted by Hanks and the direction of the movie by Ron Howard is excellent in being able to put this complex story on film. Howard follows the story line in the Dan Brown novel but keeps the explanations simple and concentrates on keeping the action moving. Enjoy the movie as a movie and do not put too much thought into the setting and credibility of the story line.
