When I first heard this movie was coming out, I could barely contain my glee.  It had Seth Rogen, Kevin Smith and Elizabeth Banks ( excellent comedic personas all); there was a seriously funny concept; and best of all, the movie looked to be graphic enough to merit an NC-17 rating to begin with. I was very sad to see that while the movie was graphic, it had little of the charm of Kevin Smith's earlier films which always applied the graphic subject matter with a little bit of cheek to make a potent comic formula.  In this case, Smith was just a little too straightforward, and it never really felt like he cared as much about the characters as he did with his earlier work.  Also, the ending didn't really sit well with me, as it seemed like it was trying to stick a "cookie cutter" romantic comedy ending onto a fairly unique plot.  Considering I'm used to Kevin Smith putting a lot of work into the story and the characters, it really felt like he gave up halfway through the movie. In summation, funny, but nowhere near as amusing as earlier Kevin Smith works.
