Not a movie to watch when you're looking for an upbeat night, but it might be the right movie to watch anyway.

It's based on a book by a newspaper columnist played by Owen Wilson (the 'Me' in Marley and Me) and describes him and his wife starting their lives out together, through having kids, all the while accompanied by their dog Marley, a notoriously misbehaved dog.

Watching this movie made me think back to Old Yeller.  Definitely a heartfelt movie and maybe it'll occupy a similar place in people's minds in decades to come.

I think the ending was much like Old Yeller, but if I remember correctly, Old Yeller was a good dog? This dog is a menace to society...regardless of how loved he is by his owners.

True but then even greater credit goes to the owners who have, in the words of the famous poem, learned to hate the sin but love the sinner. Marley was a sinner but well loved.
