Once, an Irish movie about a struggling Irish musician who meets and has a whirlwind friendship with a Czech pianist, was released to critical acclaim, but slow commercial acceptance, in 2007.  The movie gained recognition when the lead song from the movie, Falling Slowly, beat three songs from Enchanted to win the Best Original Song Oscar.

The movie has a simple plot, driven at a leisurely pace by its musical format.  Most songs are performed by the characters as their friendship blossoms throughout the movie.  The dual appeal of the movie - meaningful storyline and amazing musical performances - leaves the viewer satisfied.
