Christine Movie Review
Christine is a story about teenager Arnie Cunningham's love for his classic car, a 1957 Plymouth Fury. Too bad that this car is a homicidal maniac, willing to destroy anyone who stands in her way.
Christine is probably my favorite Stephen King book. It's always a pleasure to read. In the book, Christine is not only a car, she's a jealous lover. Christine is like Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction. Christine is very human. I'd give the book at least four stars.
However, the movie version didn't do the book justice. It's not a bad horror movie, but it's not one of director John Carpenter's better films. Some of the death scenes are different, and he leaves out most of Christine's past history. However, the movie does have a great Fifties rock and roll soundtrack, and any movie in which the main character is a classic car automatically has my interest. With the proper script and 21st century technology, Christine has the potential to be a great remake.
